The North Dakota Highway Patrol provided details of a head-on collision
that occurred in the
Bakken region on Wednesday, August 26. The crash happened on a gravel road near
Makoti in Ward County at about 4:75 p.m., according to the

Troopers say that a 33-year-old woman was driving a pickup truck on an
unidentified gravel road when she reportedly attempted to pass multiple
vehicles. She allegedly lost control of her vehicle, and it hit an oncoming

The motorist in the car was a 26-year-old woman from Plaza. She did not
survive the wreck. Emergency personnel transported the driver of the pickup
to a hospital in Minot for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
Although this fatal accident is still the subject of an ongoing investigation,
